Mikel Arteta has revealed he will watch Manchester City’s clash against Liverpool, but has stressed Arsenal’s lead at the Premier League summit means “nothing”.

Arsenal moved nine points clear at the top of the table on Saturday after beating Sunderland 3-0 at the Emirates Stadium.

Martin Zubimendi broke the deadlock three minutes before half-time with brilliant long-range strike.

Gyokeres doubled the hosts' advantage six minutes after he was introduced as a substitute on the hour mark and then added a third on the break in stoppage time.

The result puts further ground between the Gunners and Aston Villa, who drew away at Bournemouth despite leading at half-time through Morgan Rogers.

Man City have the chance to respond on Sunday as victory over Liverpool - needing a result in their own battle for Champions League qualification - will get the gap back down to six points.

However, it is a daunting task for Pep Guardiola’s side as they’ve won just once at Anfield on Sunday since 2003 - and that was when there were no supporters allowed in the stadium.

With many Arsenal supporters hopeful Liverpool can take points off their main title rivals, Arteta has revealed his plan for the big Premier League fixture on Sunday.

“Yes, I'm going to have a beautiful dinner tonight,” Arteta said after the win over Sunderland.

“Tomorrow, I start to prepare Brentford because it's going to be a really tough one and, in the meantime, for sure, I will be watching a big, big game.”

Regardless of the outcome at Anfield, Arteta has revealed what it means for his side to have nine-point lead at the top of the table.

Arteta said: “Nothing, we still have to win so many games to achieve what we want, so, there's no focus on that, that's something else.

“We've done our job now, we've had what we have to do, so I assess that, try to improve it and get ready for Brentford.
