Jonas Eidevall believes his Arsenal fans can provide the difference as they look to win the first trophy of the domestic season.
The Gunners exited the FA Cup at the weekend after they were beaten 2-0 by Chelsea at Kingsmeadow and now face the same opposition next up in the League Conti Cup final, the second part of a huge double header. Arsenal created plenty of chances in the fifth round but Sophie Ingle and Sam Kerr stuck in each half to settle the tie.
But despite seeing their quadruple chances disappear, Arsenal not only have next weeks' final, but also remain right in the mix in the WSL title race and have a UEFA Women's Champions League quarter-final against Bayern Munich to look forward to. Ahead of the Chelsea rematch manager Eidevall says he is proud to be a part of a club with such support and wants his team to use that energy to respond next week.
"It all starts with belief," he told Arsenal's club media. "This is the team, the club but also the supporters. I'm so proud of being a part of this club and being supported by people who never give up. For me that is an example of what your attitude should be and how we get success.
"Sometimes I feel like we don't even deserve to get that much support. But they are there all the time and that just builds our sense of togetherness.
"I can only to say to everyone (the supporters) you are making a difference. We're doing this together, so let's do this together on Sunday and win a trophy."
Although Eidevall will be desperate to keep spirits up with silverware on the line at Selhurst Park, many Arsenal fans have been left frustrated by the current form. Outside of two wins in the League Cup, they have only won one other game - an FA Cup tie over third-tier Leeds United.
Club legend and former striker Ian Wright was one those who took to social media to voice his displeasure with the result, labelling the defence as "chaotic" via Twitter.
Wright posted: "Sam Kerr. Ice cold. And pls don't tell me about Beth (Mead) and Viv (Miedema) We knew we had to strengthen for the most important period of the season and we didn't."
In a later reply, the Gunners legend added: "The defence is chaotic. Look at the goals we concede. Teams don't have to play well against us . We give the ball away all the time in all sorts of positions.
"We can get away with it against a lot of teams in WSL but at a certain level you get punished."
