Arsenal are set to make a number of restructuring changes regarding their backroom staff.
According to The Athletic, Jason Ayto will be the Gunners' new assistant sporting director while James Ellis is to be named the club’s new head of recruitment. It is said that there are more appointments 'likely to follow', with loan manager Ben Knapper, first-team scout Mark Curtis and data analytics specialist Tolly Coburn all expected to retain 'significant roles' within the new setup.
It is claimed that these changes serve as a recognition of the impressive work that has been done within the club over the last few years, effectively securing important personnel that have played a large part in the club's rebuild. Ayto has been based within the player recruitment side of things and he will now be assuming a larger scope of responsibilities.

He has been at the club for nine years now, joining back in 2014, most recently as the club’s recruitment co-ordinator, effectively operating as the deputy of Edu. The Brazilian transfer chief, who has been at the Emirates Stadium since the summer of 2019, recently had his job changed from Technical Director to Sporting Director, something that delighted Edu himself.
"I’m delighted to have this new role which I see as an evolution and consolidation of the way we’ve been working," he said back in November. We are making good progress in all areas of our men’s, women’s and academy and we are all excited about what can be achieved.
"I look forward to building on the hard work of so many people and helping all of us grow together and enjoy more success, and am thankful for the trust the club has put in me. We move forward together."
