Arsenal are monitoring Armando Broja ahead of the summer transfer window after missing out on their January transfer targets, football.london understands.
The Gunners failed to strengthen their squad in January despite pursuing a deal for Dusan Vlahovic, who moved to Italian giants Juventus at the end of the window.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang left the club by mutual consent while Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah were the subject of speculation due to their contracts expiring this summer.
20-year-old Broja has impressed at Southampton this season after joining on loan from Chelsea.
He's scored seven goals in all competitions for the Saints and remains highly admired by Gunners boss Mikel Arteta.
Arsenal will dip into the transfer market this summer as they look to sign a new striker, central midfielder and right back.
Meanwhile, Gabriel Martinelli has been playing as a No.9 in training sessions at London Colney as speculation continues over the Brazilian's future long-term position.
The 20-year-old has made 21 appearances so far this season and registered seven goal contributions and recently admitted he wants to wear the now-vacant No.14 shirt, made famous by Arsenal legend Thierry Henry.
"The one who I really like and think he's going to be top, is Martinelli," said Jack Wilshere in a recent interview with Arsenal's official website.
"I think what the manager has done with him has been genius as well.
"When I first went there he was training, coming on, not playing much, but training really well and I was thinking, 'He's going to get a chance here' and he eventually got his chance and he's been brilliant."
Martinelli joined Arsenal from Ituano in 2019 and become a key player for Arteta's side this season.
