Arsenal legends David O'Leary and Pat Rice remarked that Newcastle United were 'f------ brilliant' after the Magpies became the first side to get a point at the Emirates this season.
That is according to Peter Silverstone, Newcastle's chief commercial officer, after the visitors frustrated the then league leaders during a goalless draw in the capital back in January. It was the first time Newcastle had got a result at the Emirates since 2010 on a night Eddie Howe's team certainly got under Arsenal's skin.
Nine players were booked during a fiery encounter, including Jamaal Lascelles, an unused substitute, who prevented Arsenal from taking a quick throw-in late on. Mikel Arteta was already furious by that point, after Arsenal were not awarded a penalty, and the Gunners boss was soon put in his place by Howe on the touchline.

Arteta hissed after the 0-0 draw that Newcastle 'haven't played against any team like this'. For Silverstone, who spent seven years at Arsenal, it was the night 'when we realised where we were going'.
"I used to work at Arsenal for a long time and I spent a lot of time on buses back from away games with David O'Leary and Pat Rice, who are very close to me," he said at True Faith's end of season show. "After the game, I went into them and said, 'Oh, sorry, for the s---housery. The fans are a bit upset that we have s---housed our way to the first point that any club had taken at the Emirates that season.' David O'Leary and Pat Rice just turned to me, 'We thought you were f------ brilliant today!' We were."
