Although the pull of Arsenal football club has remained strong despite its recent fall from grace, the lack of Champions League and European football as a whole is likely to have had an impact on the pursuit of certain transfer targets.
Mikel Arteta and technical director Edu took a different approach in terms of the transfer strategy last summer, with the sole focus being on acquiring young talents who have a balance of potential and experience. However, Arteta has said that this year is the chance to take things to 'another level'.
Edu has also hinted that he and his recruitment team will attempt to add one or two 'quality' players as the club looks to close the gap on teams around them. "Maybe this season we can go to one or two (top) players. Today, we have a much more balanced squad," he told ESPN Brasil.
