Arsenal may finally be prepared to act on their interest in Leicester City star Youri Tielemans. The Gunners are looking to add reinforcements to Mikel Arteta's squad in January as they prepare to continue their Premier League title fight with reigning champions Manchester City.
The Spaniard is said to want a new attacker and midfielder to strengthen his options ahead of an important second half of the season. Arsenal hold a long-term interest in Tielemans and have already agreed personal terms with the 25-year-old, but are yet to finalise a deal with the Foxes, football.london understands.
Recent reports suggested that London rivals Chelsea were looking to hijack a move for Tielemans which may have seen the Gunners accelerate plans to sign the Belgium international. Tielemans' contract is set to expire at the end of the season with foreign clubs able to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with the Belgian star from January.

Despite reports to the contrary, Chelsea are not currently working on a deal for the transfer of Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans, according to Fabrizio Romano. The Belgium international has been a top performer for Leicester in his time in the Premier League and looks set to become a free agent in the summer despite the Foxes efforts to agree a new contract with their star midfielder.
It remains to be seen if sporting director Edu Gaspar will push ahead with a move for Tielemans, or whether the Gunners will look to reignite their interest in Palmeiras talent Danilo Santos. Palmeiras president Leila Mejdalani Pereira told geglobo: “Danilo is a very important player for our squad.
"As of now, we’ve not received any proposal from teams abroad. We haven’t had any consultations, if we do, we will analyse what’s best for Palmeiras and the player."
Edu must decide whether to look to agree a cut-price deal for Tielemans to beat interest from foreign clubs, or whether to secure a deal for Danilo after failing with an offer in the summer.
