Arsenal hold key advantage over Chelsea in £100m Moises Caicedo transfer as 'contract agreed'

The dynamic of the transfer window shifts each season, but in London it has often been the case in recent years that Chelsea are the dominant force. A dramatic change at the west London club alongside the shift at Arsenal may well switch that dynamic around this summer.

The Gunners impressed over the past season as Mikel Arteta's vision for his team finally started to bear fruit, with the side playing exciting football and producing results too. While they missed out on winning the Premier League title, a second-place finish is not to be scoffed at.

It means the club return to the Champions League for the first time in seven-years, following a campaign that saw them end in fifth after back-to-back eight-placed finishes. With a young squad at his disposal, Arteta has plenty in his project to show off to potential targets this summer.

football.london understands that Declan Rice is a top priority this summer, while Brighton star Moises Caicedo has been another option linked. The latter isn't short of suitors though as a source has told football.london that Chelsea are confident they can strike a deal with Brighton for the Ecuadorian international.

A report from the SecretScout claims that the Seagulls are holding out for £100million this summer, while other reports claim that Arsenal have already agreed personal terms with the 21-year-old. If the Blues find themselves in the race too, it could mean that the youngster has a decision to make over which team to join.

Arsenal have a clear advantage in this position though, given the fact they can guarantee Champions League football for next season. The side have proven they are capable of competing at the very top, while their rivals across London have suggested they will at some point, but are yet to show it.

That could be enough to tip things in the Gunners' favour, allowing for that dynamic in the transfer market to shift once again and in their favour so long as they continue to perform.
