Arsenal could be set to wave goodbye to two forwards before the end of the January transfer window, with both Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Eddie Nketiah being linked with moves away.
Gabonese striker Aubameyang - who has not been considered for first-team action at the Emirates Stadium for some time - has the likes of Barcelona and Juventus tracking him ahead of late efforts to secure his services.
The Athletic have reported that both European giants have made approaches to Arsenal.
Elsewhere, Nketiah could also be set to draw his Arsenal career to a close, with The Telegraph reporting that Newcastle United are ‘closing in’ on a deal for the Hale End Academy graduate - alongside moves for former Gunners’ target Bruno Guimaraes and Brighton and Hove Albion defender Dan Burn.
Whilst Aubameyang is thought to be leaving north London on a loan deal, no official figure has been given for what Newcastle will be paying for Nketiah’s services, with the striker out of contract at the end of the season.
Regardless, Edu is set to steer Arsenal to a considerable loss on the pair, no matter when or how they end up leaving the Emirates Stadium.
As it stands, Aubameyang currently possesses a £13.5m valuation with transfermarkt - some way below the record £55m they paid Borussia Dortmund for his signature in 2018 and also a huge decrease on his peak valuation of £67.5m during his time as a Gunner.
This means that if Arsenal agree to sell Aubameyang for that minimum figure set out, they would have lost out on a huge £54m in revenue on his services.
It is also a similar story with Nketiah as he edges towards a switch to St James’ Park.
Whilst the striker is only 22 years of age, he has already seen his transfer valuation peak and then decrease in his time at the Emirates Stadium.
Nketiah was valued as high as £18m back in October 2020 - a number that has halved in the season-and-a-half since.
It is certainly no surprise to have seen that occur, considering his precarious contractual situation at the club, but the Gunners will surely be regretting not selling him sooner.
With the losses incurred by Aubameyang and Nketiah over the past few years, it means that the Gunners could have lost out on a total of £63m in transfer revenue due to the club’s decisions in moving on both strikers now as opposed to earlier.
