Arsenal handed title boost as Pep Guardiola reveals Manchester City January spending plans

Arsenal are on course to be one of the busiest Premier League clubs in next month's transfer window ahead of their Premier League title challenge. But the same cannot be said about rivals Manchester City.

So far this season, it's the Gunners who lead the way with 13 wins in 15 games. Mikel Arteta's side have sprung a surprise onto many after missing out on Champions League football last season.

However, following Gabriel Jesus' injury at the World Cup, the Gunners are understood to be in the market for a new winger and central midfielder. As widely reported over the past few days, Mykhaylo Mudryk is a priority, while Leicester City Youri Tielemans has been consistently tipped to join the club.

Guardiola's side are hunting for their fifth Premier League title in six years but haven't hit their consistent heights of last season. City have already lost twice this season and sit eight points before Arsenal prior to this evening's (Wednesday) trip to Leeds United.

Luckily for Man City, they have Erling Haaland. The Norwegian has been in red-hot form since his summer move from Borussia Dortmund, with 24 goals in 19 appearances, and he comes into the second half of the season fully recharged from the mid-season break.

As the January transfer window approaches, Guardiola has provided an update on his plans in the market next month. "I think we're not going to sign any player in January, so we're going to finish this way," Guardiola said.

"I don't know what's going to happen but since I arrived from Abu Dhabi, with Txiki Begiristain and everyone, there wasn't any name on the table."
