Arsenal have been handed a fresh stance on a transfer for Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans as the January window opens. The Gunners have long been linked with a switch for the Belgium international, with reports claiming personal terms were previously agreed, but a deal has never been made to the Foxes.
With just six-months remaining on his contract, Tielemans could be a bargain option in the winter market or a free transfer in the summer. Mikel Arteta missed out on landing a midfielder last time out amid an injury crisis, but could rectify that as he claims that they will be active in finding chances to sign players.
“We are going to be active," the Spaniard told reporters on potential incomings. "Active means we are always looking to strengthen the team."

However, if they have any interest in Tielemans, that could be shut down by Leicester for the January window. That's because LeicesterLive report that the Midlands-based side won't be selling the 25-year-old in January, with hopes of convincing him to stay on a new contract.
It echoes the sentiment of manager Brendan Rodgers, who recently said: "I think it's one where we want to do everything we can to convince him to stay. He's in a really good place, though obviously it was disappointing at the World Cup for him and his country. He's come back and looks really happy to come back. He's a wonderful player for us.
“Until I'm told he's not here, we work very well together. He's a coach's dream, with his professionalism and his view of the game. Nothing changes for me in that aspect, we just continue to hopefully find a resolution to it and have him sign here.”
It rules the Gunners out for the short term, but the summer could see them move once again to land the midfielder on a free transfer.
