Arsenal have been heavily linked with a move for PSV Eindhoven winger Cody Gakpo this summer after missing out on a deal for Raphinha.
Mikel Arteta is keen to add more players to his squad ahead of a busy 2022/23 campaign, admitting his side are 'a little bit short' in some positions as Edu targets more signings this summer. The Gunners have had a successful pre-season after their tour of America ended with a 4-0 win over Premier League rivals Chelsea at the weekend.
Arsenal were one of many sides interested in Brazilian winger Raphinha this summer, but were snubbed by the former Leeds star in favour of a move to Barcelona. Arteta clearly wants to add another attacker to his squad, whilst the north Londoners are also in the market for a central midfielder with the likes of Youri Tielemans, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic and Arthur Melo all being linked with a move to the Emirates.

football.london understands the Gunners are still keen on a move for Gakpo, though the young star's priority is ensuring he earns a place in the Netherlands squad for the World Cup later this year. However, the Dutch talent has already delivered a positive verdict on a potential move to the Premier League. Speaking to The Sun, via the Mirror, Gakpo previously discussed the idea of playing in the English top-flight and revealed who his favourite team are to watch.
The 23-year-old said: "The Premier League is a big league. Virgil van Dijk plays there with Liverpool so I like to watch them.
"We are not the same kind of league but I think we try to look at the Prem and learn about it. Everybody wants to play one time in the Premier League."
Gakpo continued by revealing he idolised Arsenal legend Thierry Henry growing up due to similarities in their physical statures and playing positions. The Dutch winger stands at 6ft 2ins tall and scored 21 goals, providing a further 15 assists in 46 appearances in all competitions last term.
"I don’t favour one team but I like Arsenal a lot," Gakpo explained. "I looked up to Henry when I was younger because he was a tall guy who played on the wing."
This revelation could suggest that the PSV star is open to a move to Arsenal in the future, although the Eredivisie outfit could demand a large fee for his services. Gakpo is under contract until 2026 with the Dutch side and could fetch a fee in the region of £40million, but PSV want to keep the 23-year-old until after their Champions League qualifiers have been played.
