Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus has undergone successful surgery after suffering a medial cruciate ligament injury for Brazil. The 25-year-old was substituted off against Cameroon in his nation's final Group G fixture.
Jesus was initially expected to only miss three to four weeks of action but recent reports have suggested he will be out until February. The Brazilian striker suffered a similar injury during his time at Manchester City but did not need surgery to correct the issue as he now begins his rehabilitation with Arsenal.
Jesus completed a £45million move to the Emirates Stadium in the summer transfer window and enjoyed a strong start to life with the Gunners. His recent form has dropped with Jesus suffering a length goal drought for club and country, despite him still providing assists for his teammates.

Earlier this year football.london reported that the Gunners were interested in signing the Portugal international, with Mikel Arteta eager to bolster his frontline. Arsenal went on to sign Gabriel Jesus from Manchester City instead but the 23-year-old continues to be linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium.
Atletico Madrid CEO, Gil Marín, has discussed Felix's future at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium after the Portuguese forward has failed to live up to expectations in La Liga. “João Felix has top level but because of his relationship with Simeone and game time… we feel that makes sense to consider potential bids to sell him”, Gil told TVE.
“I’d love for Joao to continue, but this is the current situation," he added. Felix has only registered seven goal contributions in 18 appearances for his club so far this season and scored in Portugal's opening World Cup fixture against Ghana in Qatar.
Following Jesus' injury, the Gunners may look to reignite their interest in the Portuguese forward with Atletico now open to negotiating potential bids for their star striker.
