Arsenal handed fixture boost with Everton missing six key players for Premier League clash

Arsenal welcome Everton to the Emirates Stadium on Sunday, and the visitors are expected to be without six key players for the clash. The Gunners, who currently sit top of the table, will be expected to continue their impressive start to the season against a side yet to record a league win this term.

The Toffees were beaten 5-1 at the Emirates on the final day of last season, and they'll be hoping to avoid a similar fate when their threadbare squad arrives in North London on Sunday afternoon.

Everton's latest absentee is goalkeeper Jordan Pickford, who sustained a thigh injury in the Merseyside Derby against Liverpool last weekend. Pickford's injury will allow Aaron Ramsdale to get some game time as England's number one in games against Italy and Germany later this month, but the goalkeeper will be a huge loss for Everton, with Asmir Begovic expected to replace him.

Elsewhere, star striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin is nearing a return to action, having missed the beginning of the season, but he isn't expected to be fit for the visit to Arsenal.

Defensive trio Ben Godfrey, Yerry Mina and Mason Holgate are all side-lined with injuries of varying severity. Godfrey is a longer-term absentee with a fractured fibula. Mina suffered an ankle injury which will see him return after the international break, while Holgate has missed the last two games. Midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure is back in training after sustaining a hamstring injury, but the game at the Emirates is likely to come too soon for him.

Given Everton's winless form and an extensive injury list, Sunday's game seems like the perfect opportunity for Mikel Arteta's side to get their sixth win of the season.
