Arsenal handed Bruno Guimaraes lifeline as Edu reportedly keen on Victor Osimhen transfer

Here is your Arsenal morning digest for Thursday, January 27.

Guimaraes lifeline

Arsenal transfer target Bruno Guimaraes is on the verge of a move to Newcastle United, according to various reports.

However, French outlet RMC, via GFFN, have claimed that the north London club have reinitiated contacts for the Brazilian international after reaching an impasse with Serie A giants Juventus regarding countryman Arthur Melo.

The report claims that there have been no formal offers from the Gunners as of yet.

Mikel Arteta's side have been heavily linked with the deep-lying playmaker over the last few months and were reportedly interested in Guimaraes' services before he joined Lyon two years ago.

Osimhen interest

According to Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport, via Football Italia, Arsenal are interested in Napoli frontman Victor Osimhen, with Newcastle United also reportedly keen on the 23-year-old.

A deal for the Nigeria international seems unlikely this month considering we are into the final days of the window.

However, Osimhen has himself admitted that he wants to one day play in the Premier League, potentially opening the door to a future move to the north London club at some point in the future.

“I spoke with Arsene Wenger after the tournament (Under-17 World Cup) ended and he wanted me to come to Arsenal,” Osimhen told the Independent back in 2020.

Ferdinand verdict

Manchester United icon Rio Ferdinand has claimed that Arsenal have 'no chance' of signing Everton star Dominic Calvert-Lewin this month.

"There’s no way," he told his Vibe with Five YouTube channel when asked about the 24-year-old making a move to the Emirates Stadium.

"I don’t think Everton let Calvert-Lewin go in this window, no chance. He’s one of the crown jewels. No way!"
