Arsenal half-time player ratings vs Sevilla: Gabriel Jesus superb, Odegaard and Saka sensational

Aaron Ramsdale: Did not have much to do in terms of goalkeeping as Sevilla's best chance fell to Ivan Rakitic who pulled his effort wide of the post. Showed some really good distribution to get Arsenal on the attack. 7

Ben White: Was a bit sloppy in possession at times, lost the ball in a dangerous area shortly after Arsenal had taken the lead and would have been relieved to see it lead to nothing. Did sharpen up as the half wore on. 7

William Saliba: Showed some composure early on to wriggle out of a difficult situation. Positionally excellent as he snuffed out a few Sevilla attacks. A really encouraging first-half for the Frenchman. 8

Gabriel: Not as impressive as his defensive partner, but still decent whilst being relatively untroubled. 6

Oleksandr Zinchenko: A decent showing on his unofficial home Arsenal debut. Despite starting at left-back, he often found himself in midfield when the Gunners were in position. 7

Thomas Partey: Nice and solid in the middle of the park, broke up play and showed his incisive passing from deep. Perhaps should have done better with a free header towards the end of the half. 7

Martin Odegaard: Captaining Arsenal for the first time following the announcement this morning and he was on a mission to impress. Cut Sevilla open on numerous occasions, it was his lovely looped ball over the top that lead to the penalty. 8

Granit Xhaka: Played a massive part in Gabriel Jesus' first goal, whether he can claim the assist or not remains to be seen. Amid links to another midfielder, the Swiss international offered a timely reminder that he is a worthy candidate in that left eight role. 7

Bukayo Saka: Won the penalty from which he scored and made no mistake when the ball was presented to him from close range to double his tally. Once again he provided a threat down the right-hand side. 9

Gabriel Jesus: A bit of a surprise that he did not take the penalty. But in this system and the way he presses from the front, the Brazilian will get goals. Was alive to the ball being parried into his path for his first goal of the game and doubled his tally soon after with a neat finish. 9

Gabriel Martinelli: Just doesn't stop running. Gave Jesus Navas numerous problems down the left-hand side and claimed an assist for his compatriot with a lovely pick out. Should have scored in the closing stages but saw his effort blocked. 8
