Arsenal are among a number of clubs interested in a move for RC Lens midfielder Seko Fofana this summer, according to reports. It comes as the Gunners look to strengthen their ranks going into next season.
Mikel Arteta will be aiming for a summer similar to last year, where he managed to transform his squad with a £140million overhaul. While the side were competitive once again, they narrowly missed out on a return to the Champions League, and will be building for next campaign with the Europa League in mind.
Adding depth and quality will likely be on the agenda for additions, with prospects Marquinhos and Fabio Vieira both joining the club early on in the window. Director Edu has hinted that there’s plenty more business to be conducted: “We will now continue to work hard and are looking forward to finishing this transfer window as strongly possible.”

One particular area for reinforcements could be the midfield, with a lack of options beyond the regular pairing of Granit Xhaka and Thomas Partey. A number of high-profile players have been linked with a move, but L’Equipe, via GFFN, reports that RC Lens’ Seko Fofana is of interest to the Gunners.
The 27-year-old made 38 Ligue 1 appearances last season, finishing seventh in the league. However, his impressive performances means plenty of other teams are monitoring a transfer.
The report adds that PSG and Newcastle are eyeing a move, with roughly €40million (£34million) enough to land him. Les Parisiens are said to be able to make the move for Fofana after a seal of approval from Kylian Mbappe.
It could mean that the Gunners are in a battle to land him this summer, if they do wish to add him to their squad.
