Arsenal may have been handed the perfect opportunity to sign Marcel Sabitzer from Bayern Munich, with the German giants reportedly willing to sanction the sale of the Austrian international.
The Gunners have been linked with a move for the 28-year-old before and with Sabitzer starting just six Bundesliga games so far this season, seeing most of his time on the bench, Arsenal could potentially pounce on the situation. Strengthening the engine room is deemed imperative for Mikel Arteta's side in the summer as the Spaniard continues the process of moulding the squad into one that represents his footballing identity.
Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves has been linked with a move to north London, but given the amount of money needed to acquire the Portuguese international, Sabitzer could be the perfect alternative, with reports claiming that he could soon be on the move.

What could put Arsenal at an advantage in the race to sign Sabitzer is that the former RB Leipzig man has previously revealed his admiration for the Premier League, stating that he would be open to playing in England one day. Looking at Arsenal's current midfield options, it's clear that multiple reinforcements will be needed for next season, especially when considering that the Gunners will likely be competing in Europe next season.
Mohamed Elneny will be out of contract in the summer and doesn't look likely to be handed a new deal given the limited amount of minutes he has been handed. Thomas Partey's struggles with injuries since arriving at the club continue, so despite the fact that the Ghanaian is crucial to the way the team functions, there is an argument that Arsenal need someone who offers greater availability and possesses similar quality.
Meanwhile, Albert Sambi Lokonga is still adapting to the intensity of the Premier League and has shown a fair amount of rawness within his game so clearly, there is uncertainty with almost every midfielder Arsenal currently have at their disposal.
