Arsenal’s preparations for their clash with Brentford this weekend were disrupted by Storm Eunice on Friday, with Mikel Arteta revealing they were forced to do part of their training indoors.
The UK is currently being battered by the storm, with the MET office issuing a red alert warning and people being urged to not travel and stay at home.
Strong winds have swept across the country and Arsenal’s training base at London Colney has been impacted too.
The squad were training on Friday morning ahead of their match with Brentford at Emirates Stadium on Saturday, but they were forced to do some of their work indoors due to the weather.
“We had to change the session, it was too windy to do what we wanted to do,” said Arteta.
“So we had to adapt and do one part inside and the other one outside. But we were safe, which was the most important thing, and we managed to do some bits.”
Arsenal should have a fully fit squad for the match against Brentford as goalkeeper Bernd Leno has recovered from Covid-19 and right-back Takehiro Tomiyasu has shaken off a calf issue.
“We are all good. The doubt was Tomiyasu, who has still not been perfect, but he has trained the last few days,” said Arteta.
“So he’s in contention and we can use him. That’s really positive and the rest, we are good. We know that Gabi [Martinelli] is out with the red card that he picked up against Wolves. The rest of the players are okay.”
