Arsenal footage reveals Mikel Arteta's approval of Rob Holding decision and injured star spotted

Arsenal's first-team squad have begun filtering back to London Colney for pre-season training and footage of the first day has been released over the course of the week.

On Monday and Tuesday, images emerged of Gabriel Jesus, Benjamin White, Eddie Nketiah, Leandro Trossard, Rob Holding, Gabriel Martinelli, William Saliba, Gabriel Magalhaes, Takehiro Tomiyasu and Oleksandr Zinchenko all going through medical screenings and strength tests in the gym as well as going outside for a light session.

Furthermore, the first week back has also seen the return of a few familiar faces with Cedric Soares, Albert Sambi Lokonga and Marquinhos all being reintegrated after spending the second half of last season out on loan with Fulham, Crystal Palace and Norwich City respectively.

To give Arsenal supporters an additional insight into how the players - who were not called up for international duty last month - and youngsters such as Reuell Walters, Lino Sousa and Amario Cozier-Duberry have got on at the beginning of pre-season, an 'Inside Training' video has been uploaded and below is everything football.london spotted in the nearly seven-and-a-half-minute clip.

Win reception

In an attempt to lift morale towards the end of the season, Arteta introduced a dog called 'Win', to the training ground and the Labrador makes a very early appearance in the video having been greeted by Martinelli before being formally introduced to Arthur Okonkwo who is back after two loan spells of his own.

Holding gets Arteta's approval

Last seen during the lap of appreciation following the 5-0 win over Wolves back in May, it's a case of new season and fresh look for Rob Holding as he has ditched the long hair. And it's safe to say that Arteta approves of the decision as before embracing the central defender he says: "Much better, Rob, much better."

To which Holding agrees by stroking his hair and conceding "it was too much". As one of the longest-serving players at the club, the 27-year-old is embarking on his seventh pre-season at London Colney and it may be the last amid talk of a departure before the summer transfer window closes.

Elneny spotted

One player who hasn't been spotted amongst the training images this week is Mohamed Elneny. The midfielder has been sidelined since January after undergoing knee surgery and as revealed by football.london last month is on course to play a part of Arsenal's pre-season schedule.

Therefore it was good to see the Egypt international in high spirits in the video clip as he shared a warm embrace with Cedric before walking into a room to greet Marquinhos.

Saliba steps it up

It has been almost four months since William Saliba was involved in an Arsenal training session, so the sight of him outside with the ball at his feet is certainly an encouraging sign with games against Nurnberg, MLS All-Stars, Manchester United, Barcelona, Monaco and Manchester City on the horizon.
