Arsenal set for difficult start to title defence as fixtures for new Premier League season confirmed

Arsenal begin the defence of their Premier League crown against newly-promoted Coventry.

The Gunners head into the 2026/27 campaign as top-flight champions for the first time in 22 years, with Mikel Arteta delivering English football’s biggest prize in impressive fashion, and going to within two missed penalties of a Champions League crown.

Arsenal’s first real test comes in the second week of the season as they face Europa League winners Aston Villa in what has been a difficult fixture in recent years. It is part of a tough opening run for the Gunners, with Chelsea at home in the first week of September.

They meet Manchester City for the first time on November 28 at the Emirates Stadium, and for a second time on January 30 at the Etihad Stadium.

The two north London derbies come on December 5 and on May 1, though for a change the first game will be held at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The traditional festive period will see Arsenal face Crystal Palace away from home on Boxing Day and then a trip to Fulham four days later. Their first game of 2027 is at home to Ipswich, and the season concludes with the visit of Brighton to the Emirates.
