Arsenal have been dealt a possible injury concern with their trip to Liverpool on the horizon.
The Reds take on the Gunners in the Premier League clash at Anfield in just over a week’s time. Liverpool face Manchester City at the weekend and Chelsea next midweek, before welcoming Arsenal to Merseyside on April 9.
Both Liverpool and Arsenal have had a lot of their players jet across the globe to represent their countries during this international break. And now it has emerged there is a concern for Gunners midfielder Thomas Partey.
The midfielder was part of the Ghana squad for the Africa Cup of Nations qualifying double header against Angola. Partey featured in the first match last Thursday, but missed the reverse fixture on Monday evening.
Ghana manager Chris Hughton confirmed that Partey was left out as a precaution, with there concerns over the midfielders fitness. It remains to be seen how serious the issue is, with Partey expected to be assessed when he returns to Arsenal.
"Thomas [Partey] has some small issues,” said Hughton, in a post-match interview. “We felt it was too big of a risk to start him [against Angola]."
Partey has been a key player for Arsenal this season, and would be a major blow if he was to spend a lengthy period on the sidelines. The Gunners are already without Takehiro Tomiyasu after the defender needed surgery on a knee injury earlier this month.
