Arsenal could solve a major William Saliba problem that has been exposed in recent weeks involving Ben White and a new signing. Mikel Arteta has been forced to play Rob Holding for the Gunners' last six games with the effects of Saliba's absence extremely noticeable in the last four outings with Arsenal picking up just three points.
The summer transfer window will prove to be a pivotal period for Arsenal if they wish to turn a successful 2022/23 season into a period of dominance. Adding depth to certain positions is a must, while a mini-midfield overhaul also appears important, with West Ham's Declan Rice the main target this summer, as football.london understands.
A defensive addition or two is also likely needed with the first-choice back four crucial to Arteta's system. If any were to suffer a long-term injury, like Saliba has, it could greatly impact the style of play the Spaniard likes to deploy, as has been with the absence of the Frenchman.

Adaptable defensive options are highly admired by Arteta and when White was signed ahead of the 2021/22 season he was brought in as a central defender. But, the 25-year-old has been predominantly used at right-back and despite it not being his natural position, he has thrived in the role.
However, with a new addition at full-back appearing likely, White could finally end up in his favoured position. Ivan Fresneda from Real Sociedad has been heavily linked and now a new target has been linked to the Gunners.
According to FootMercato, from the Premier League Arsenal and Brighton are both targeting Ajax defender Devyne Rensch, with Sevilla also interested. The 20-year-old has made 31 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring three goals and grabbing one assist.
The Seagulls are said to be leading the race currently, but if Arsenal were to secure his signature, a major Saliba issue would also be solved. With Rensch coming in, White could be used in the centre of defence with Saliba given a rest if needed with his replacement proving to be hugely detrimental to Arteta's system.
