Arsenal's plans for the summer transfer window are starting to come together as the Gunners prepare to make an extra push going into next season. One area that will need to be addressed is the midfield department, with the need to add further depth and quality there.
football.london understands that Declan Rice is the top priority for the north London outfit, with Brighton's Moises Caicedo also being linked. With that in mind, sporting director Edu Gaspar has claimed that plans are already underway for the next few months.
"It’s already started because you know what’s happening in the market everybody is doing stuff," Edu told football.london on the upcoming window. "You have to plan with people as well just to be prepared so when you go again in the summer you are very prepared."

While most of the players being linked have been in deeper midfield, such as Rice and Caicedo, there are also options to play in Granit Xhaka's role. One of those is Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves as Sport claims that the Portuguese international is being chased by the Gunners.
They aren't alone as Barcelona, Liverpool and Manchester United are also linked with a switch, with just over 12 months remaining on his contract. Neves could be a perfect partner for Rice in the central ranks and would take the Gunners up to the next level going into next season.
It remains to be seen if the move will be made to help bolster Mikel Arteta's central ranks, but it shows where the side are focusing their recruitment this summer.
