Arsenal explore USA pre-season trip while Emirates Cup could return this summer

Arsenal are looking to finalise their plans for pre-season this summer.

The club are exploring the possibility of playing matches in America, which has been a popular destination for them in recent years given the ties to their owner, Stan Kroenke.

The Gunners had been preparing to go to the USA last summer for matches against Inter Milan and Everton, but they were forced to cancel those plans after positive tests for Covid-19 were recorded within the travelling party.

Those games had been scheduled to take place at the Camping World Stadium in Orlando, but this year's venues have not been finalised yet.

The return of the Emirates Cup could also be part of Arsenal’s pre-season plans. The tournament last took place in 2019 and didn’t happen the following year due to Covid.

Last summer Arsenal competed in pre-season tournament The Mind Series instead, along with London rivals Chelsea and Tottenham.
