Arsenal delivered major Liverpool warning over Gabriel Jesus injury return with repeated issue

Arsenal's timeframe of Gabriel Jesus' injury is currently unclear after the striker underwent surgery on a knee injury picked up whilst at the World Cup with Brazil. Some reports suggest that an injury of his type can leave players sidelined for around three months, a period of time that would be unfortunate for Arsenal.

The January transfer window is quickly approaching and it's likely that plans have already been drawn up for a short-term fix ahead of the Gunners' Premier League title charge alongside Manchester City. However, technical director Edu and Mikel Arteta will be aware that any attacking reinforcement made in the winter will cost a sizeable fee.

Eddie Nketiah is currently next in line to start in the Gunners' attack alongside Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka on Boxing Day. There remains the possibility that the club will place faith in the Hale Ender amid hope Jesus will return earlier than expected, but have been handed a warning today from one of their Premier League rivals.

Earlier today, The Athletic reported that Liverpool forward Luis Diaz is expected to miss another three months after having surgery on his knee. Diaz had been sidelined with injury since Arsenal's 3-2 win over Liverpool in October but had recently returned to training during the World Cup break.

The Columbian was part of Jurgen Klopp's squad in Dubai last week but had to fly back to England after complaining of discomfort in the same area. The reports states the 25-year-old has had surgery on his lateral collateral ligament and is set to be out of action until March.

Diaz's unfortunate repeat of his injury will certainly be a flashing warning sign for Arsenal's medical staff. Jesus plays an important role in Arteta's squad and his presence in the forward line will certainly be missed once football returns. However, avoiding a similar problem to Diaz and their league rivals will be a prime objective when Jesus begins his rehabilitation.
