Arsenal cleared of any wrongdoing after FA investigation into goal celebrations against Bournemouth

The Football Association (FA) have decided against charging Arsenal for the nature of their celebrations following the last-minute winner against Bournemouth.

Reiss Nelson scored in the 98th minute to send the Emirates Stadium wild as it capped a comeback from two goals down to secure three important points in the Premier League title race.

Referee Chris Kavanagh noted the celebrations in his referee’s report, prompting an investigation by the FA.

The laws of the game require players and staff to behave in a “responsible manner” and for those restricted to the technical area to not enter the field of play without valid reason.

After Nelson’s winner, Arsenal boss Arteta sprinted down the touchline in celebration while a number of substitutes entered the pitch to congratulate the winger.

The Gunners had previously been fined £40,000 on two separate occasions for failing to control their players this season, against Oxford in the FA Cup and in the Premier League draw at home to Newcastle.

Arteta described the goal as his most emotional moment in charge of Arsenal, saying: “It was probably the loudest and most-emotional moment we have lived togethe.

“The journey that we've been on together and how the supporters and team are together, adding the important moment we had today, it was very special.

“Everybody is probably overwhelmed a little bit. It was madness from the first second of the game with a routine we knew they could do and we defend so poorly.”
