Arsenal can sign their very own Bernardo Silva if Edu sanctions £40m summer transfer

Ajax star Mohammed Kudus has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League in recent times and Arsenal are said to be one club interested in signing him.

Kudus has rejected a one-year contract extension with the Dutch giants, according to the Athletic, who have claimed that the Gunners are keeping tabs on the Ghana international ahead of the summer transfer window. His current deal with the Eredivisie side is set to expire in the summer of 2025, with Ajax expected to demand a fee in the region of £40 million if they are to part ways with the talented playmaker.

Arsenal, Manchester United and Newcastle United are all said to be interested in the 22-year-old, who could be Mikel Arteta's very own answer to Manchester City ace Bernardo Silva if the north Londoners could complete a potential deal. Arteta consistently likes to sign versatile players that are capable of operating in a multitude of different roles - offering the Spaniard tactical flexibility depending on his side's opponent.

Kudus certainly fits the billing, regularly operating as a right-winger and an attacking midfielder, somewhat similar to the aforementioned Silva in that regard - with both players also regularly cutting in on their favoured left-foot. While the Portuguese international is perhaps a better presser and more press resistant, Kudus offers plenty of output in the final third.

The former Nordsjælland star netted 18 goals and three assists across all competitions this season, earning the praise of Dutch icon Marco Van Basten in the process. "I find Mohammed Kudus a much better football player than (Manchester United winger) Antony," Van Basten told Ziggo Sport.

"Antony has his skills, but he is confused with the things he is trying to do! Kudus has much better technique and he knows what he is doing. Antony may be faster, but Kudus is smarter and more technical.

"He is much more of a footballer, you can place him anywhere on the pitch, an all-rounder for the team. In fact, I like him much better than Antony. He's more fun to watch play."

Considering Ajax want just £40m for Kudus, it seems like an incredibly sensible transfer for Arsenal to sanction, with a potential move bolstering their midfield options as well as easing Bukayo Saka of the creative burden from the right wing.
