Arsenal are reportedly set to revive their interest in FC Porto striker Mehdi Taremi ahead of the January transfer window as a replacement for Gabriel Jesus. The Brazilian forward faces a period out of action after sustaining a knee injury whilst at the World Cup meaning the Gunners may have to recruit a short-term fix.
Mikel Arteta's men are top of the Premier League table after 14 games and have Gabriel Jesus to thank for his individual performances since moving from Manchester City. The 25-year-old has scored five goals and provided another six assists and has formed a strong frontline with Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli.
However, Arteta was handed a major blow to his side's title chances last week when the club confirmed he would be sidelined after undergoing surgery on a knee injury. The injury to Jesus leaves Eddie Nketiah as the only natural No. 9 at the club, meaning technical director Edu faces the task of adding a new addition to Arteta's squad.

With the club likely to have to do battle with Manchester United for Cody Gakpo's signature, the Gunners have been re-linked with Taremi ahead of the opening of next month's transfer window. Portuguese outlet O Jogo have claimed that the club have renewed their interest in the striker after he put in a couple of good performances in the World Cup for Iran.
The 30-year-old scored twice and assisted another in three games in Qatar but couldn't help guide his nation to the knockout stages. Taremi returns to Porto ahead of the return of Liga NOS and Champions League football but faces doubt over his future.
The striker enters the final 18 months of his deal at the Estadio do Dragao and it's reported that Porto may sell the striker should he refuse to commit his future at the club. Valued at €20m (£17m) by transfermarkt, the Iranian has enjoyed a good season himself with 13 goals in 20 games - including five in five Champions League games.
Taremi was linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium this time last year following Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's free transfer to Barcelona. Reports insisted that he had been offered to the club on loan but had the offer reversed following Luiz Diaz's move to Liverpool.
