Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta warned against making transfer "mistake" as Gunners face crunch call

Aaron Ramsey has told Mikel Arteta that he'd be making a big mistake if they let Folarin Balogun leave the club this summer.

The American international is coming off the back of a breakout season while in Ligue 1, scoring 21 goals in 37 league games for Reims while on loan from the Gunners.

And while Arsenal are in need of a striker to compete with Gabriel Jesus, Balogun is being heavily linked with a move away from the club with West Ham and AC Milan being linked with him this summer.

Arteta will unlikely be able to offer Balogun regular first-team football, with the front three of Bukayo Saka, Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli likely to be the go-to starters moving forward.

But Ramsey has stated that Arsenal should not be looking to let the striker leave the club - being a more than capable option whenever needed next season.

Former Arsenal and current Nice midfielder Ramsey told the Daily Star said: "I’m not the Arsenal manager but Balogun’s very good. We played against him a couple of times and, from what I saw there, he's a very exciting player to have in your team.

"Arsenal have many great players but he's definitely got the quality. And, yes, he's good enough for the Premier League."

The Hammers are said to be leading the chase for Balogun's signature, reportedly in talks over a £30 million move.

Balogun was fourth in the top scorers list in the French top-flight last season, with only Kylian Mbappe, Alexander Lacazette and Jonathan David scoring more.

That season drew attention from the England camp, but he was ultimately not picked and voiced his frustrations before making the switch to the USMNT - where he was born.

Balogun immediately took to Instagram and posted a story after the England squad was announced, writing: "In life, go where you're appreciated. Be easy."

Balogun could be in line to be the starting option up top if signed by West Ham, with Gianluca Scamacca reportedly set to join AS Roma, after a tough first season in the Premier League following a £35 million move.
