Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has played down the fact that his side have two games in hand on Manchester United in the race for a top-four finish after moving to within one point of them in the Premier League table.
The Gunners, who were beaten 3-2 at Old Trafford back in December, came from a goal down to seal a dramatic 2-1 win over Wolves at the Emirates Stadium on Thursday evening, courtesy of a 95th minute own-goal by goalkeeper Jose Sa.
The Midlands outfit had been in front since the tenth minute until Nicolas Pepe brought Arsenal level with just eight minutes of normal time left on the clock.
Victory, which was Arsenal's third in a row, moved them up to fifth and to within one point of Ralf Rangnick's side, meaning they have significantly strengthened their top-four ambitions, largely because of the fact that they have two games in hand on United.
Despite having the chance to move above the Reds if they maximise the games in hand they have to come, Arteta has refused to get carried away, insisting he is focusing on nothing more than their clash with Watford on March 6, by which time they will have three games in hand.
"Well, we have the possibility obviously to go above [United], which is what we want," Arteta told Amazon Prime.
"But we have to go game by game, now it's Watford, and the two games in hand really are not important.
"We still have 14 games to play and we have to make the most out of them. That's the objective."
United, of course, can reopen a four-point cushion on Arsenal with three points against Watford at Old Trafford on Saturday.
Arsenal were scheduled to face Liverpool this weekend but the fixture has been postponed due to the Merseyside club's involvement in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley on Sunday.
