Arsenal blow as teenage talent Amario Cozier-Duberry decides to leave

Amario Cozier-Duberry will leave Arsenal at the end of his contract this month.

The winger informed the club in the past 24 hours and has offers from sides in Belgium, France, Netherlands and Germany.

He will also be free to speak to English clubs after July 1 and is yet to decide where he will play his football next season.

Cozier-Duberry is understood to be keen for more first-team football and that will play a role in his next move.

Arsenal were keen for the winger to stay and had offered him a new deal a year ago. The club wanted him to sign and then head out on loan in the January just gone, but that could not be the case with him having six months on his deal then.

There is a feeling at Arsenal that the level to break into the first-team is higher than previous years, but there was a belief that Cozier-Duberry could have made that step by going out on loan.

The youngster, however, has decided to play elsewhere and will not be short of offers.

He has been tipped for a big future and was compared to Bukayo Saka by Arsenal Under-18 manager Jack Wilshere.

“Amario is very exciting and Mikel [Arteta] likes him,” Wilshere told The Athletic last year. “He reminds me of Bukayo Saka, plays in the same position as him, needs to get better with his decision-making like Bukayo did, but he’s definitely exciting.

“In some moments he’s unplayable. You give him the ball and he can make things happen. You can set up a team and have a game plan, but when you’ve got individuals like that you’ve got a chance.”
