Premier League clubs have been warned that Chelsea could be a 'scary' force to be reckoned with under Graham Potter's stewardship. The newly appointed Blues boss signed a five-year deal at Stamford Bridge earlier this week, swapping the south coast for west London.
In addition to the new side at Potter's disposal, the 47-year-old also has a handful of new faces to integrate into the squad. Todd Boehly welcomed eight players - one of whom has returned to their former club on loan and another who's arrived on loan - to the club in their first transfer window, amounting to nearly £270million.
The aforementioned fee was spent on signing Raheem Sterling, Kalidou Koulibaly, Marc Cucurella, Wesley Fofana, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Carney Chukwuemeka, Gabriel Slonina and Denis Zakaria (loan fee). This is quite the contrast compared to Brighton's shy spending during Potter's tenure at the Amex Stadium.

Speaking to Fair Betting Sites, Shaun Wright-Phillips explained how Chelsea could become a 'scary' force now that the former Seagulls boss has significant backing to fund his philosophies. The former Blues winger said: "I honestly think he's a fantastic manager, to be honest with you.
"What he's done in the Premier League, especially at Brighton, and this is no disrespect to Brighton, all the players there, but what he's done in the Premier League, with the funding that he's had and the players that he's had, he made those plays back.
"He's built a team there that out-pass a lot of teams in the Premier League without the budget of 250,000,000 in the bank or 250 mil spent on players," Wright-Phillips added. "So for me, if you can teach players, maybe not on that elite level, to get somewhere close to the elite team and keep the ball away from those types of players, I think it always makes me think, what would you do with a set of elite players?
"If those elite players buy into the way he plays and his philosophy of football, it could be a scary thing and a great new thing for the Premier League."
According to Transfermarkt, Brighton spent £191.7million on signings across the four transfer windows Potter was in charge. Many of the Englishman's signings have gone on to secure moves with some of the big-six, raking in a healthy amount of profit - one of whom, Marc Cucurella.
