Arsenal and Manchester United have been dealt a huge blow as another side are preparing a “significant” bid for Victor Osimhen this summer. The Napoli forward has been linked with both Premier League sides as they search for a solution to their striker dilemmas.
For the Gunners, the previous campaign was a struggle when it came to having a consistent goal-scoring threat. With Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang also leaving the club, there is a void left to be filled up front.
Discussing the need for a forward, Mikel Arteta said: “He puts the ball in the net – that’s priority number one. Goal threat. Any successful team needs enough goal threat in the squad. Without it, you have nothing.”

Manchester City striker Gabriel Jesus has been heavily linked with a move to the club to fill such a void. There are reports that suggest an announcement date has been set for his arrival, but that doesn’t rule out further striker signings.
Napoli forward Victor Osimhen is one of the other players rumoured to be of interest to the Gunners, having impressed in the Serie A. However, should they want to sign him, they may have been dealt a huge blow.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Newcastle are preparing a “significant sum” to bid for the Nigerian international. Given the money available to the Magpies, it could present a problem for Arsenal to be able to compete for his signature.
However, with Jesus’ deal seemingly close, the need for another striker may have diminished.
