Arsenal have an agreement in principle with William Saliba over a new four-year contract.
The centre-back’s previous deal was due to expire next summer but he is now set to pen an extension in the next two to three weeks.
Arsenal will be delighted to tie Saliba down to a new deal as the Frenchman has just finished a brilliant season for the Gunners.
The 21-year-old shone during his first campaign in English football and Arsenal’s title charge faded when he injured his back in the Europa League in March, eventually being ruled out for the rest of the season. Saliba is still sidelined but working hard to be back fit for pre-season.
Arsenal have made it a priority over the past year to tie down the core players in their squad and have succeeded to that end, with Aaron Ramsdale, Bukayo Saka, Gabriel and Gabriel Martinelli all signing new contracts.
Saliba is the latest to join them and the Gunners are also ready to start contract talks with their captain, Martin Odegaard.
The Norwegian has two years left on his current deal, with the option for a further 12 months, but Arsenal want to tie him down and reward him for his fine form.

Odegaard has been linked with a move to French giants Paris Saint-Germain this summer, but it is understood that Arsenal do not plan to entertain any offers.
The midfielder himself is very happy in north London and also enjoys an excellent relationship with Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta.
