Arsenal supporters are certain a new kit announcement is close after the club store released a potential hint about the latest design.
On Wednesday morning, fans trying to access the online shop were greeted by an ambiguous message reading “We’ll be back, just making a few tactical changes”. On the image, a red background with a white lightning bolt through the middle had supporters convinced the popular “lightning-bolt” pattern is staging a comeback.
First introduced for the 1994-95 season, the style was implemented on the Gunners’ blue away kit for two seasons before seemingly being confined to the scrapheap - despite its popularity. The shirts were made famous by stars such as Ian Wright and Dennis Bergkamp despite Arsenal failing to win any silverware throughout that period.

Adidas have brought the lightning bolt back in recent years - with the 2019-20 yellow shirt also paying homage to the design. Last season’s quirky third kit also featured a blend of different colours - predominantly blue - as Mikel Arteta and Co agonisingly missed out on the Champions League.
However, Arsenal are yet to have a home shirt that features the iconic pattern. Fans believe the latest message on the club website confirms a twist from the usual red torso and white sleeves.
One online comment read: “This is the loading screen for the Arsenal web store as of two minutes ago. Looks like the lightning-bolt design on the leaked home kit, could the 2023-24 shirt drop be imminent?”
