Arsenal accidentally share X-rated image while promoting pre-season friendly vs Nurnberg

Arsenal 's social media team accidentally shared an X-rated image while promoting their pre-season friendly against Nurnberg, leaving supporters in shock.

The Gunners take on the German outfit away from home on Friday in their first major pre-season friendly. Summer signings Gabriel Jesus and Matt Turner are among those set to play for Mikel Arteta's side with the new Premier League term just a month away.

The friendly will be streamed live on Arsenal's website for £5.99 and the club's social media staff were tasked with promoting it. To do so, they used a stock image of Nurnberg fans holding up scarfs - but one of them contained a graphic cartoon of a sexual act.

Arsenal's unfortunate post was quickly deleted after fans started pointing out the mistake. Arteta will be hoping that's the only mistake the Europa League challengers make on Friday as they look to get their pre-season off with a bang against Nurnberg.

Arsenal have confirmed new goalkeeper Turner will start, while Jesus is set to be introduced from the bench. Fellow summer signing Marquinhos is also among the substitutes, but Fabio Vieira will miss out after picking up an injury in training.

Eddie Nketiah will start in attack after scoring a hat-trick against Ipswich Town in a behind-doors-clash last weekend and several youngsters have been included in the squad - including Reuell Walters, Salah-Eddine Oulad M'hand, Matt Smith and Lino Sousa.

Arsenal's clash against Nurnberg is part of their pre-season trip to Germany. The Gunners have travelled across the continent to visit Adidas HQ in Herzogenaurach. The training campus has been described as "state-of-the-art" by the Premier League club.

Arsenal have spent four days at the facility and will leave Germany after their friendly against Nurnberg. Friday's fixture will be played at the Max-Morlock-Stadion, which boasts a capacity of 50,000 spectators and was used for the World Cup in 2006.

"We’re very pleased to have our training camp at Adidas HQ confirmed to kick off our pre-season schedule," said Arteta last month. "I’d like to thank adidas for hosting us. We’re excited to get to work at the world-class facilities the campus has to offer.

"The fixture against FC Nurnberg will be a good test for us as we look to make a strong start to pre-season. Together with our matches in Baltimore, Orlando and at the Emirates Cup, this adds to a great run of fixtures that will help us prepare for a big season ahead.

"It’s also a fantastic opportunity for us to connect our fans around the world, we’re looking forward to seeing them on the road."

Arsenal have another four more senior friendlies to play after their clash against Nurnberg. They will travel to the US later this month for fixtures against Everton, Orlando City and Chelsea before returning to the UK to face Sevilla in the Emirates Cup on July 30.
