A MAN has been arrested just days after another man was allegedly shot dead in a town in West Lothian.
Emergency services were called to Harestanes Road in Armadale at around 11.50am on Saturday following a report of a man found injured inside a property.
A 35-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. Police say his family is being supported by specialist officers.
Police said on Sunday that one line of inquiry is that the man’s death may have involved a firearm.
The force added that a postmortem examination is due to take place, and the death is currently being treated as suspicious.
A 57-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday in connection with the death.
Police said their enquiries into the incident are ongoing.
Detectives are also investigating a car fire in nearby Netherhouses, which may be linked to the death of the 35-year-old.
Detective Superintendent Michelle Findlay, of the Major Investigations Team, said: “My thoughts remain with the family and friends of the man who died.
“Specialist officers are supporting them as we continue to try to get answers about what happened.
“We’ve been carrying out extensive enquiries, including door-to-door in the area, CCTV review and forensic analysis.
“I’d like to thank the public for their support so far. I continue to ask anyone with information about the death, who witnessed anything in the area they believe may assist our investigation, or with CCTV, doorbell or dash-cam footage, and hasn’t already spoken to police, to come forward.”
Superintendent Jocelyn Thomas added that an increased police presence will remain in the area as officers continue their enquiries.
She said: “We understand the local community is concerned by what has happened, however we believe this was a targeted attack. I want to reassure everyone, these incidents are rare.
