Cleveland’s AFC North rival, the Pittsburgh Steelers, will be without one of their starting corners for nearly half the season. Cam Sutton was given an eight-game suspension on Monday, and reports say he will not appeal the suspension.
The suspension is for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy. He will be reinstated in late October after the Steelers play the New York Giants. This comes after Sutton was arrested for battery after an alleged incident with his girlfriend during the off-season.
After the incident, Sutton was released by the Detroit Lions, and the Steelers signed him knowing that something like this was coming. 2023 was a down year for Sutton, his first outside of Pittsburgh, but he has plenty of talent and experience in the Steelers system.
Pittsburgh likely has a plan to cover while he is out and could turn to some young, promising players on the roster during the first eight games.
