Arnott’s Biscuit Unwrapped Is Out So Here’s What Australians Most Popular Bikkie Was In 2024

Move over Spotify Wrapped and Tinder’s Year In Swipe! Arnott’s Unwrapped has just dropped and I’m dying to see which bikkies popped off in the year 2024.

It seems like you can’t run a business in 2024 without releasing a slew of data about what your customers got up to in the last twelve months. Truly ’tis the season for infographics and rankings.

And though the reaction to this year’s Spotify Wrapped was mixed, if there’s one company that can’t come under fire for using AI on their products, it’s the folks who make bikkies over at Arnott’s. (At least, I assume AI isn’t involved. I wouldn’t trust ChatGPT to craft a resignation letter, let alone bake a biscuit.)

According to Arnott’s Unwrapped 2024, Aussies ate over 300 million packets of biscuits and crackers in 2024, which amounts to over 8,000,000,000 individual bikkies.

And even though it’s not a competition, the company did point out that this is five times the number of Spotify streams Sabrina Carpenter has for “Espresso”.

The unwrapped also revealed that more than 98 per cent of Australian homes purchased at least one of Arnott’s 130 varieties of biscuits and crackers.

However, of these countless confectionaries, only one can be crowned as the country’s cookie of choice.

And much like the triple j’s hottest 100 countdown every year, there are crowd favourites and underdogs (shout out to the Iced Vovo)… but only one can come out on top.

This year the top biscuit purchased and munched by Aussies was the national hero, the original variety Tim Tam.

Let’s be real: this result is the equivalent of having Taylor Swift in your top songs on a Spotify Wrapped. It might feel basic, but at the end of the day, it’s there for a reason. You truly can’t beat a classic.

This achievement rounds off a big year for the humble Tim Tam, which celebrated its 60th birthday in 2024. That’s right, Tim Tams are a baby boomer.

Now let’s quit the soft nibbling, and just crack open the full box, hey? Here are which biscuits were the top 10 most munched by Aussies in 2024.

  9. Scotch Finger (+1 spot from 2023)
  10. Monte Carlo

In a testament to their status as an Australian icon, Tim Tams not only nabbed the top spot, but also took out number six on the ranking in the form of the Double Coat variety.

Jumping up two spots from the 2023 Arnott’s Unwrapped, the Double Coated Tim Tams are the undisputed rising star of 2024. That’s like the biscuit equivalent of being Chappell Roan.

The BBQ variety of Shapes was also incredibly popular this year, with more than 13.4 million packs purchased in 2024.

Arnott’s proudly bragged that the 8 billion biscuits sold and eaten this year is a number 1,500 times the amount of tickets sold to The Eras Tour, and 57 times the number of babies born in 2024.
