Arnold Schwarzenegger’s son debuts dramatic weight loss in rare photo

Christopher Schwarzenegger is flaunting his new physique in a picture from the famous family’s vacation.

Although Christopher — the youngest son of actor Arnold Schwarzenegger and journalist Maria Shriver — largely stays out of the spotlight, a recent Instagram post by his sister, Katherine, showed a glimpse of the 28-year-old during their Cape Cod getaway.

Katherine, 36, shared a picture Sunday that showed Christopher smiling on the beach in a T-shirt and board shorts, looking noticeably more muscular and fit than he did in his younger years.

The siblings were on the family trip with their brother, actor Patrick, as well as Katherine’s husband, actor Chris Pratt, and Shriver’s brothers Anthony, Timothy and Mark.

Christopher has been candid about his health journey throughout his adolescence, and previously shared that he spent more than five years working to lose weight and get in shape.

At the Inaugural Beacher Vitality Happy & Healthy Summit in Los Angeles in May 2025, he said on a panel that he began to slim down while he lived in Australia.

“It was a big process. I started in 2019 when I was living in Australia,” he told Shriver, Kelly Osbourne and the event’s host Jeff Beacher, according to People at the time. “I was on this big trip. I made it a big [deal] like, ‘Oh, I'm going to go out and do all this stuff, be in Australia,’ and I just saw how much my weight was prohibiting me from doing the everyday activities.”

Christopher — who works as the director of development at a Los Angeles production company called Indus Valley Media — recalled wanting to go skydiving on his trip, but realizing that he could not because of his weight.

The University of Michigan graduate said that he had attempted to lose weight in high school by eating healthy, but became discouraged by “feeling like a weirdo.”

However, when he tried to get in shape again as an adult, one of the most effective routes was by changing his eating habits, he told the panel. Christopher explained that giving up bread during the 40-day period of Lent helped him to lose 30 pounds.

“It's not an overnight thing, but it took a lot of trial and error,” he said. “And even still to this day ... when you're saying, oh, before and after photos ... I don't feel like I'm an after yet. I don't feel like I'm at the point.”
