An Arnold pub that closed down earlier this year will welcome back locals with an opening night party this Friday, July 15. With no manager, The Eagles Corner had no choice but to close in March.
Now there's a new boss but she's a very familiar face. Former supervisor Hannah Brace has taken on the manager's role and has been working non-stop over the last few weeks to get the pub up and running again.
But it hasn't been smooth sailing. The pub, in Front Street, had been due to reopen last week but delivery delays put a spanner in the works. Hannah said: "We didn't get our new fridge freezers, the delivery got put back, so we had to put the opening back. I was a bit upset but the show must go on.

"The pub closed on March 18 and it's definitely been missed. Loads of people have been asking me when it's reopening. The owners asked me if I wanted to take it on. They wanted me to give it a go.
"I've been here since 2017 and I'm well known in area. I like to get on with everybody so I had a good think about it and thought why not?"
A month before The Eagles Corner closed down a man was arrested after an assault inside the pub left the victim needing hospital treatment but Hannah wants to rebuild the pub's reputation. "Let's try and turn it around a little bit and turn it back into the family-run pub it used to be, give it a good reputation and just have a nice environment and a nice atmosphere."
DJ Barny will be at the opening night party from 6pm to 11pm. Hannah said: "We have extra things on the menu like pizzas and new drinks like vodkas and rums and shots, such as sambuca and tequila. There's offers on most days so Monday to Thursday it's buy one get one free on the burgers."
Locals are looking forward to the pub reopening. Margaret Mantle, of Arnold, said: "I used to go in on a Saturday with my husband sister and brother-in-law. We just think it is a shame it’s been closed. It's a lovely pub and the food is always lovely. I've definitely missed it and will be going in again when it opens. We're really looking forward to it."
Full-time mum Annie Jones, 34, from Arnold, said: “It’s nice in there, a nice pub for any group of people really, quite big inside too. I’m glad it’s opening back up again. I didn’t know [it was opening back up] I will be going, I think it’s important to support local businesses."
