Arne Slot has provided music to the ears of Liverpool fans with an injury update on two stars ahead of their clash with Fulham.
The Reds will look to build on their impressive form when they host Fulham in what could be a tricky clash at Anfield on Saturday afternoon.
Slot’s side have had some injury issues to contend with in recent times. They were boosted by the return of Alisson in their Champions League victory over Girona mid-week.
Now Slot has provided a major injury update on two Liverpool stars ahead of the 3pm kick-off with Fulham on Saturday.
Diogo Jota and Federico Chiesa Could Return From Injury For Liverpool
Arne Slot has confirmed that Diogo Jota and Federico Chiesa are available for Liverpool in a major boost ahead of the weekend.
It gives them more attacking reinforcement ahead of what will be a busy Christmas schedule for the Reds.
Jota has been unavailable for just shy of two months having last played against Chelsea on October 20.
The Portuguese international suffered a rib injury during the match having scored four goals in 10 appearances before then.
Chiesa has only played 78 minutes since joining the club in the summer after struggling with muscle issues.
On Chiesa’s next steps after the positive injury update for Liverpool, Slot said: “What makes it difficult is that we play so many games.
“What he needs is playing time. The problem is if you haven’t played for five or six months it is sometimes difficult for a manager to give him his first minutes, because you don’t exactly know what you can expect.
“Yes, I see him on the training ground, but ideally you see him in a friendly during the week, Or you see him in an U21 game or something like this – but that is not the situation we have, we play so many games.
“Maybe the Southampton game might be a good moment for him to get some playing minutes. Then we know a bit better what we can expect from him. Of course we see his qualities, we know his qualities but he needs to get this fitness level.”
Boost For Liverpool Ahead Of Christmas
The returns of Diogo Jota and Federico Chiesa from injury is a positive update at a good time for Liverpool.
Liverpool play every three or four days between now and their clash with West Ham on December 29.
Arne Slot will hope to rotate his side to keep his players fit for the second-half of the season.
The return of Jota will pile pressure onto Darwin Nunez. The striker has only scored three goals this season and started behind the Portuguese star when he was fit.
