Army called in to help tackle raging wildfires across South Wales

• Military personnel, including members of the Queen's Own Gurkha Logistic Regiment and Royal Engineers , have been deployed to South Wales to assist firefighters tackling severe wildfires.
• The armed forces are providing vital logistical, operational, and planning support, including transporting water to remote locations and moving equipment.
• Firefighters have been working intensive 10 to 11-hour shifts in harsh conditions to combat at least ten large blazes across the region.
• South Wales Fire and Rescue Service experienced a surge in emergency calls, receiving 736 calls on Saturday compared to the usual average of 300.
• High wildfire risks persist across South Wales due to a prolonged lack of rain, following national mobile alerts warning the public of the dry conditions.
