The KNC Groundworks Scottish Rally Championship heads to the Stewartry this weekend.
The district will play host to the Armstrong Galloway Hills Rally – the penultimate round of this year’s series.
More than 60 crews will be heading to the forests tomorrow, with the start, finish and service park at Talnotry on the Queen’s Way.
Entries are lower than expected, meaning there will be two stages – each run three times – for a total distance of just under 43 miles.
First off the start line will be Dumfries’ David Bogie who can secure a record sixth championship if he takes his fifth win of the season.
He will be joined in his Ford Fiesta Rally2 by John Rowan.
Next crew away will be the Subaru Impreza of event sponsor Jock Armstrong from Castle Douglas and co-driver Cammy Fair.
And third will be the Mitsubishi Evo 9 of Michael Binnie who can still deny Bogie the title if he wins the last two rounds.
Other four-wheel drive entries include Mark McCulloch of Dumfries, who will once again be joined in his Proton Satria Evo by Michael Hendry, and the Evo 8 of Scott Peacock from Castle Douglas and Craig Wallace from Westmuir.
And Angus Lawrie of Castle Douglas and Paul Gribben of Annan are out in an Evo 9 with class victory enough to secure the Albyn Garage Challengers title for Lawrie.
Dumfries pair Peter Stewart and Harry Marchbank could seal the Autoshop two-wheel drive class if they take victory in their Peugeot 208 Rally4.
They are also competing in class three, with plenty of local competition including Haugh of Urr brother and sister Keith and Mairi Riddick in their MG ZR and the similar car from Auldgirth’s Niall Cowan Jr and Callum Shanks of Dumfries.
There’s also another Peugeot 208 from Dumfries duo Richard Stewart and Colin Maxwell and a Vauxhall Adam from Dumfries Robert Proudlock, who needs a mere four points to win the Moates Offshore Junior title.
Class one features the Vauxhal Corsa of Dumfries’ Lewis Haining and the MG of Dumfries pair Niall Cowan and Helen Brown.
And two Ford Escort Mk2’s have Dumfries and Galloway Escort. Kirkgunzeon’s David Hardie and Dumfries’ John McCulloch are in class five, with Thornhill duo Jim Robertson and Mike Curry in class 12.
