Armed police surrounded a home in Darras Hall amid concerns for a man inside.
Police filled the street at Edge Hill, on Northumberland's Darras Hall estate, after receiving a report for of concern for a man.
Numerous marked vehicles could be seen parked by the road, along with two ambulances.
And police officers carrying guns stood close to the home. Northumbria Police has confirmed that a man was taken to hospital.
A spokeswoman said: “Shortly after 8am today we received a report of concern for the welfare of a man at an address on Edge Hill, Darras Hall.
“Police and emergency services attended the address and a short time later, the man was taken to hospital for appropriate treatment."
