Police with firearms were called to a Swansea convenience shop after a reported armed robbery.
A South Wales Police spokeswoman said the force was called at around 4.40pm on Friday (February 18) with reports of an armed robbery at Premier Slee Stores on Neath Road, Plasmarl.
"Firearms officers were deployed as a precaution," she said. "The victim was safeguarded and enquiries are continuing into the incident."
A social media post suggested there was still an armed police presence in Plasmarl at 8.40pm.
A Slee Stores spokesperson told WalesOnline: "The incident happened on a busy Friday afternoon and the person concerned took our takings along with a quantity of tobacco. Thankfully the member of our staff working was not hurt but was clearly traumatised and as I’m sure you will appreciate the mental scars will always be there.
"We believe the person concerned to live locally and South Wales Police are now leading the investigations which we hope will shortly lead to an arrest."
