Armed Man Arrested Outside Sweden's Royal Family Residence

Sweden's King Carl Gustaf gives a toast during the jubilee banquet in the Rikssalen at Stockholm Palace, on the occasion of King Carl XVI Gustaf's 50th anniversary on the throne, Friday, Sept.

A masked man armed with a knife and in possession of handcuffs, tape, and a prop gun was arrested outside the residence of Sweden's royal family on Wednesday, reports say.

The incident occurred at the official residence of Crown Princess Victoria, her husband Prince Daniel, and their two children, Princess Estelle and Prince Oscar. The family resides in Haga Palace, situated in Haga Park, Solna Municipality in Stockholm.

The man was initially spotted by castle guards around 5 p.m. before being reported to the police. Per Fahlström, a spokesperson for Stockholm Police, mentioned that the man was behaving strangely and was found with a knife.

Margareta Thorgren, head of information for the Royal Court, confirmed that the police arrived promptly and arrested the man, emphasizing that it is now a police matter.

Haga Castle is located within a public park, and the royal family has made it their home since 2010. In August, it was revealed that Crown Princess Victoria had commenced special military training as part of her preparation for her future role as head of state.

The training includes a focus on tactics, military science, and military strategy, as stated by the princess herself. The police have not disclosed the identity of the suspect or the charges he may face.
