Armadale Thistle marked their return to Volunteer Park in style with a 6-3 victory over Edinburgh College last night.
The club’s famous old ground underwent a remake over the past few months with a new 4G playing surface installed while they played ‘home’ games at Bathgate’s Creamery Park to start the East of Scotland Division Three season.
And the got things up and running on their new park in fine fashion as a four goal blitz early in the second-half helped guide them to a comfortable victory.
Scott Dalziel opened the scoring with a header inside five minutes before the visitors levelled things up.
Colin Strickland beautifully swept home from the edge of the box but the sides went into the break on level terms after College equalised once more.
But Armadale were ruthless to start the second-half as Dalziel nodded home within seconds of the restart with Robbie Feeney and Strickland quickly following suit.
Dalziel would bag his hat-trick - all headers - on 57 minutes to seal the deal.
College netted a consolation 10 minutes from time but it did little to dampen the spirits of the sizeable crowd that celebrated the club’s return home.
