Aries Spears, the stand-up comedian and actor perhaps best known for being one of the stars of “MADtv” has chimed in on the always contentious LeBron James vs Michael Jordan debate.
James just finished one of the most impressive individual seasons he has ever had. He just barely missed out on his second scoring title by averaging 30.3 points a game on 52.4 percent shooting, plus 8.2 rebounds and 6.2 assists per game.
However, for most people, those stats are shaded by the fact that his Los Angeles Lakers failed to reach the NBA’s play-in tournament.
There is a feeling that, as a result, James’ legacy has taken a bit of a hit.
Count Spears among those observers who feel that way.
Via Basketball Network:
“I’m a Jordan fanatic,” Spears said. “This whole LeBron-Jordan thing to me was never really a debate. I respect the man’s game, he’s nice despite many of the things that I’ve said and poking fun, I respect him. You can’t not respect him and the man is one of the best. But he ain’t Jordan.”
“Jordan’s the GOAT, man. End of conversation. And this season right here, we can finally put a pin to that garbage. This season right here!”
The good news is that James seems to have plenty left in his tank. If he’s lucky enough to stay healthy and get more help roster-wise, he could add another world championship ring to his collection soon and perhaps convert people like Spears to his side of the argument.
